pickleball swing check / learn / forehand into net

Why does my pickleball forehand keep going into the net?

Your forehand goes into the net because your paddle face is too closed or your swing is too flat. To fix it, open your paddle face slightly and swing low-to-high. This will lift the ball over the net.

How to tell

Why it matters

Lifting the ball gives it clearance over the net. This creates a safer shot and more consistency. It also gives you more time to get ready for the next shot.

The fix

  1. Open Face. Point your paddle face slightly up. Imagine scooping the ball.
  2. Swing Low-to-High. Start your paddle below the ball. Finish your swing above your shoulder.
  3. Brush Up. Feel like you are brushing up the back of the ball. This adds lift.

One cue makes it click: Scoop the ball up and over.

2-minute drill

Practice this simple movement at home for two minutes.
