The best pickleball wall drills to practice at home
Updated October 2026 · 2-minute read
The best pickleball wall drills focus on controlled, low shots. Hit forehands and backhands against a smooth wall. Stand closer for quick reflexes, move back for power practice.
How to tell
- Your dinks go too high.
- You miss easy shots.
- You feel slow reacting.
- Your shots lack power.
Why it matters
Wall drills build muscle memory without a partner. You get endless reps for forehands and backhands. This improves consistency and control in your game.
The fix
- Find Wall. Use a smooth, flat wall. A garage door works too.
- Hit Low. Aim shots below the "net line" on the wall. Keep the ball low.
- Vary Distance. Close for quick hands, far for power and full swings.
One cue makes it click: Wall work builds your hands and control.
2-minute drill
Here's a quick 2-minute wall drill to build your game.
- Stand 5 feet from the wall. Hit forehands for 30 seconds, aiming low.
- Immediately hit backhands for 30 seconds, aiming low.
- Move back to 10 feet. Repeat 30 seconds of forehands, then 30 seconds of backhands.
